HISTORY OF STAR DOGS


[ Lore and Creation Story]

In the beginning, there were only stars. One being took the light of new stars and created planets, blowing them off his paw to send them far. One planet shone as no star ever had. The creator, The One, bestowed life upon this beautiful planet. From the soil of the planet and a drop of his blood, he crafted the first Star Dogs. At first, he only created one. Then he remembered; they had to have a way to reproduce. So he split the Star Dog in two and sent them opposite ways. That way, each of his new creations would have to search for their other half. The One assigned a task to each Star Dog. To travel the new planet and learn what they could of it on their own. The male set off to the west, and the female the east. They named every creature and plant they met along the way. And when they finally were reunited, they told each other of their journeys. "Now that you have explored the east and the west," said The One, "you will go to the north and south." First female volunteered to go south. So First Male went north. "Great One, we have done as you asked of us," First Female called to him. "Yes, what would you have us do now?" First Male asked. "Now I leave you to yourselves. Take comfort in each other's company, drink from the streams, hunt only to satisfy your hunger, and teach your own children as I have taught you."

[ Description]

Star Dogs vary in color and size, but generally have the same characteristics. To make an earthly comparison, a Star Dog resembles a jackal. An elongated muzzle. Medium length fur. Tapered ears. But there end the similarities. Two, tusk like fangs jut up from either side of its mouth. A tail, a third the length of its body, ends in a pastel tuft of bright colors. Raptor claws adorn each of its four paws, with dewclaws on the hind legs. Red pupils are set far apart, shadowed by deep amethyst fur. A diamond shape, red in color and made up of four smaller diamonds, rests between two tufted ears. The tips of the ears are pierced, held together by a single bar. At the corners of its mouth are tarnished silver zippers, used to draw neurotoxins out from the water of their planet. Dinoflagellates occupy every water source, causing them to glow. This in turn causes the plants, animals and fungi to glow bright colors as well. Being the top predators, Star Dogs are the only species to posses both toxic saliva and fangs. There is one middle tooth that grows from the roof of its mouth that lacks the toxicity of the rest. To compensate for this, the serpentine forked tongue has a hole through it. This extra fang is used to hold down struggling prey. Star Dogs communicate to each other using high-frequency sounds. Humans can't hear these sounds, so Star Dogs may observe them with no fear of being heard. They discovered the Earth with help from The One. The creator advised them to watch the ways of beings from other planets, and taught them to travel by teleportation. Their first impression of humans didn't go over well. They viewed humans as unintelligent, over-destructive creatures who seemed intent on killing their species.  Through the use of their intelligence and the help of The One they easily develop the languages of other species. The Star Dogs developed an anthro form to appear more human like and plan to approach the strange beings. To teach them to live as The One intended.
